Ross Bleckner, Untitled, 2023, Oil on linen, 60 x 72 inches
Frieze Seoul 2023
For the 2023 edition of Frieze Seoul, Petzel is thrilled to debut new works by Ross Bleckner, Cosima von Bonin, James Little, Nicola Tyson, and Xie Nanxing. The presentation will include paintings by Ross Bleckner featuring his iconic flower motif, which blend abstraction with realism in an examination of the beauty and ephemerality of life. Following her solo exhibition in New York, Cosima von Bonin’s fabric collaged paintings spotlight emblematic pop culture figures—Bambi and Daffy Duck. A colorful abstract painting by James Little demonstrates his mastery of formal considerations for pictorial design, color, geometry, synthesis, and integration, along with his intimate relationship with the medium. Nicola Tyson showcases a series of works, depicting both portraits and landscapes, which reveal the artist’s intuitive, embodied approach to image-making, color, and technique. A painting by Xie Nanxing from his new suite of portraits, experimenting with representations of close, personal subjects in the artist’s life, will also be on view.
In addition, Petzel is pleased to present selected works by an ensemble of artists from the gallery’s program, including: Roger-Edgar Gillet, Sean Landers, Sarah Morris, Pieter Schoolwerth, and Emily Mae Smith. We are delighted to showcase new and specially curated works in our second participation in Frieze Seoul, continuing to reinforce our commitment to the region with an outstanding roster of artists.
The works available here will also be on view at Petzel’s stand at Frieze Seoul, Booth A6. For inquiries, please contact info@petzel.com.
