This catalogue is documentation of Two Minutes of Standstill, which took place on June 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. as part of the Impulse Theater Biennale in Cologne. Inspired by the Israeli national memorial day Yom HaShoah, a day to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and the fighters of the Jewish Resistance, Two Minutes of Standstill postures silence as an historic act of commemoration but also as a reflection on the present. The texts consider possible interpretations and consequences of the performance, and the positive and critical attention spurred by the artwork, given Germany’s past.
