FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JORGE PARDO
"It Hangs Out There"
April 13 – May 18, 1996
Opening reception: Thursday, April 13, 6-8 pm

Friedrich Petzel Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition, "It Hangs Out There" by Jorge Pardo. The show opens on Saturday, April 13 and continues through May 18.

Pardo developed this project featuring tables, chairs and lamps in response to a restaurant area commissioned by the Trade Fair in Leipzig, Germany, which opened earlier this month. In the context of the Leipzig project, Pardo used bright, saturated color to balance the enormous glass architecure surrounding the restaurant; whereas in this gallery exhibition all the colors have been neutralized to a common monochromatic glow.

Jorge Pardo is based in Los Angeles, where his work has been exhibited at Thomas Solomon's Garage. The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles will host a solo show later this year realizing Pardo's design for a house that was first presented at Friedrich Petzel Gallery in 1993. Other projects this year are scheduled for the MCA Chicago, neugerriemschneider Gallery in Berlin and the Centre d'Art Contemporain, Dijon, France.
